Creating the futures we want in health

Energiser Session

Bogi Eliasen, Director of Health at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies discussed the concept of health being the most important societal pillar and looked at the role of both patients and patient organisations in creating a humanised healthcare system

KEY TAKEAWAY: It is important to understand how people can stay as healthy as possible throughout their life. Patient organisations can have a big impact by educating their communities on secondary prevention i.e. reducing the impact of disease with early diagnosis and treatment and implementing strategies to prevent recurrence. This will help us also understand how people can have the best quality of life if they do become ill.

“80% of the health challenges around the world are similar, so we need to understand how we can work together, instead of inventing 200 solutions for the same problem” - Bogi Eliasen.
