Equipping the patient community with tools for action

Day two of the IEEPO 2023, Uniting in Action: Humanising Healthcare in Practice event was wrapped up by Alastair Kent, Former Executive Director of Genetic Alliance from the United Kingdom and Kawaldip Sehmi, CEO of the International Alliance of Patients’ Organisations (IAPO) also from the United Kingdom signposting to the available tools and resources on IEEPO.com.

KEY TAKEAWAY:

Alongside the IEEPO Position Paper, IEEPO.com contains many useful resources in the LEARN Library and the Poster Gallery that are available to support discussions with stakeholders and policymakers.

In loving memory of Kawaldip Sehmi

The IEEPO Position Paper can be used with a wide range of stakeholders and there are also simple lay language summaries and an infographic available which provide an easy-to-understand breakdown of the content. Now is the time for change. The Position Paper has provided us with a solution to help humanise healthcare and I urge you to share it with all of your stakeholders and work towards achieving political commitment that supports positive change.” - Kawaldip Sehmi
We can learn from the experiences of others; looking to the future we are launching a new peer-to-peer support programme in the coming year. This will enable patient organisations to come together and learn from each other and to co-create solutions to shared problems. This will help us all work together more effectively, to advocate more efficiently and to bring benefits to your patient community that would be impossible to do when working alone. “ - Alastair Kent
